Scandinavia Private Tour Itinerary
Kick off your Scandinavian vacation in the colorful, modern and cultural Copenhagen, capital of the Kingdom of Denmark. Upon your arrival, a friendly driver will meet you and your party at the airport and transport you to the hotel in complete comfort and style. After your hotel check in (and some much needed rest, perhaps), feel free to explore the surroundings of your centrally-located hotel and start discovering Copenhagen. On your second day you will join expert local guides who will introduce you to some of the famous landmarks in the city through two guided tours of Copenhagen. The first tour is a guided cycle tour with a chef, where a 5-course menu is served along the way, experience the atmosphere in cozy and interesting parts of the city as well as some of the city’s green oases. Copenhagen is probably the only place in the world where you can enjoy a restaurant experience from your bicycle. The specially designed kitchen bike functions as a natural gathering point for the guests, where good food as well as good stories are shared. The second one takes you on a short canal cruise of the city for a new perspective on all it has to offer. The following day you will embark on a day trip to South Zealand, where you will visit the Forest Tower and take the wooden path to the top for spectacular views. You will then experience the scene changing from the green forest to a view of the blue sea from the cliffs above at Møns Klint. The beautiful white cliffs rise over 400 feet above the turquoise sea along the four miles of coastline. The Klint tells over 70 million years of history in the chalk layers, where you can find fossils from ancient sea animals.. Finish your tour of Denmark with some open time to revisit Copenhagen and embark an overnight ferry on your way to Norway, where your tour of Scandinavia continues.
Your arrival at the hip and vibrant Norwegian capital is a true highlight, as you cruise your way to the city via the Oslo Fjord, on board an overnight ferry from Copenhagen. That same afternoon you will combine wellness and adventure by visiting one of Oslo’s fjordside saunas. The next day join a local guide on a tour of Oslo in a part of the city rarely seen by tourists. The pleasant forest hike leads you to beautiful views of the famous Holmenkollen ski jump, the heart of Norwegian skiing and one of the most famous sport arenas in the world. The afternoon is open for you to discover Oslo however you want. We suggest that you experience the beautiful landscapes with forests, livestock grazing the green fields, trails, beaches, cafés and several of Norway’s most popular museums in Bygdøy. Just a short ferry ride away from the center of Oslo, you can access Bygdøy at no additional cost, using the Oslo Pass included in this program.
A tour of Scandinavia would be incomplete without exposure to the Norwegian fjords! The Sognefjord in a Nutshell® tour takes you through some of Norway’s most beautiful fjord scenery. Leave Oslo toward Myrdal, where you will switch trains and enjoy the breathtaking Flåm Railway (Flamsbana). Upon your arrival in Flåm, a short transfer will take you to 29|2 Aurland, in the heart of fjord country, where you will spend two nights. Breathe in, allow yourself to notice the little things. In Aurland, time moves in tune with the calming nature on all sides, embrace slow living and enjoy yourself outdoors. You will continue the Sognefjord in a Nutshell® tour, on your way to Bergen, where you will spend two nights. Explore this magnificent town, affectionately known as “the Gateway to the Fjords,” which is beautiful however you look at it. A walking tour of Bergen will expose you to colorful wooden buildings by the water and offer you scenic views atop Mount Ulriken where you will hike on well marked trails towards Mount Fløyen and back down to the city center.
A short flight will take you to the city considered – by many – to be the most beautiful capital in Europe: Stockholm. Welcome to Sweden! The rest of your first day in the city is open for you to explore on your own. The next morning discover Stockholm on bike, a great introduction to the city. You will pass by popular sights, but you will also discover some of the city’s hidden jewels, such as Djurgården, the first National City Park in the world. In the spirit of creating a grand finale, enjoy the exclusive experience of kayaking the Stockholm archipelago, with almost 30,000 islands it’s one of the most unique areas in Europe and there’s no better way to enjoy it than in a kayak. The wildlife, rugged scenery, and serenity of the paddle will blow you away! Continue your tour of Scandinavia with an overnight ferry ride to a bonus destination, the magical town of Tallinn, in Estonia.
Why not enrich your beautiful Scandinavian vacation with a short visit to Estonia? That is why we decided to include in this program two nights in gorgeous Tallinn, the Estonian capital, a city that many describe as “something out of a fairytale.” You will stay in the heart of the fortified Old Town, and bike from your hotel to North Tallinn through two of Tallinn’s most exciting peninsulas – Paljassaare and Kopli. Experience a walk in the Viru bog, where Estonians connect with nature. Tallinn is only a couple of hours by ferry away from Helsinki, which makes for a very convenient and comfortable journey to the Finnish capital.
Helsinki is the capital of Finland – a bilingual country – where all street signs are written in Finnish and Swedish. You will explore the city’s landmarks on a guided bike tour followed by a traditional sauna experience and swim in the seawater pool at Allas Sea Pool. In Finland, you will also visit Porvoo, which is just under an hour by car from the capital. Porvoo will enchant you will its many cafes, shops, cobblestone streets and colorful wooden buildings by the water. The town is tremendously picturesque and full of art, culture and delicious food. On your return to Helsinki, explore Uutela Nature Trail, a place locals consider one of the best kept secrets. Stroll the forested area with rocky hills that meet the shores of the Baltic Sea. Conclude your tour of Scandinavia with a private transfer to the Helsinki Vantaa airport, in comfort and on time.
