TIMELINE

Day 1

Stargazing & Highland Luxury: The Adventure Starts

The adventure awaiting you is very exciting. As you introduce yourself to the few lucky ones who will be enjoying it with you over the next 6 days, you can feel that everyone shares that excitement. The Tour Director gets the fun started, and we all head out to Highland Base, our remote luxury outpost, for two nights. On the way there, we stop by the Geysir Hot Springs to experience that geological marvel. Tonight, after a gourmet dinner, far from the glow of city lights, the night sky becomes a pitch-black canvas with stars, constellations, the Milky Way, and, if the timing is right, the Northern Lights. It’s time for some guided stargazing. And as you look up, you think: “I can’t believe I am finally here!”

Day 2

Hike, Admire, Relax, Rejuvenate

You enjoyed breakfast slowly, taking in your surroundings and all that delicious food, so now you are ready to get out there in the Icelandic Highlands. We all are! Today’s hike is something out of a movie, taking us through sizzling hot springs and geological formations that you had never seen before. It’s a hike like no other, through nature like no other, through the heart of the Icelandic mountains. If you prefer, you can also hop on an e-bike and explore that way. Movement and conversations are flowing easily. After the hike is complete, we return to our base to rejuvenate our minds and bodies in the soothing geothermal waters of the Highland Baths.

Go Chasing Waterfalls… In the South

Day 3 is here, and we head south. On our way to the south coast of Iceland, we stop for lunch at a unique venue: an elaborate greenhouse where tomatoes grow all year round and beautiful Iceland horse shows entertain their guests. Throughout the day, we stop by many of the awesomely powerful waterfalls that define the region and its rugged beauty. Later, our boutique hotel welcomes us.

Day 4

Would You Rather Walk on a Glacier or Ride Icelandic Horses?

Today, we jump into a tremendous adventure, but you have options: you can experience the unique thrill of riding an Icelandic horse along hills and mountains to the Írafoss waterfall. Or, instead, you can choose to embark on a guided glacier hike. Either way, mind-blowing views and a tremendous sense of connection with Nature are inevitable. At night, we enjoy a hearty dinner made with fresh, local ingredients and share stories from the day with our group. Then, happy and relaxed, it is time to retreat to the comfort of your luxurious accommodations for a restful night.

Day 5

Experience What Tourists Insist on Missing

Today is another day to experience what tourists routinely miss in Iceland: the Westman Islands. Volcanic activity in the region furiously engulfed the small archipelago in early 1973, with its land mass increasing in size by about 20% almost overnight from solidified lava. We’ll hike to the top of Eldfjall volcanic crater, the source of that devastating eruption, and see the added section. At Eldheimar Museum, a sort of time capsule, we will walk around sections of actual homes buried in the lava and see objects frozen in time, exactly as they were more than 50 years ago. Goosebumps are guaranteed. On the southern side of the islands, we explore the cliffs in search of puffins. Then, at dinner this evening, we toast to a fantastic week and all of the wonderful memories made on the Westman Islands.

Day 6

Don’t Tell Me This Is Over!

After enjoying breakfast, we will return to Reykjavik, where it all started. But before we get there, we make one more stop at another beautiful waterfall. You wonder if the droplets on your face are the mist from the falls or if they come from thoughts of your perfect vacation coming to a conclusion. Regardless, you know that the life-long memories, stunning photos, and new friends are yours forever. You also know you’ll be back.

Day 3 is dedicated to Iceland’s Golden Circle, which is made up of three must-see sights: Gullfoss waterfall, Geysir geothermal area and Thingvellir National Park. Nearby, at Fridheimar, you will enjoy a beautiful show with Icelanic horses and some organic, tomato-based delicacies as well. Following your guided tour of the Golden Circle, we will drive to Landeyjahöfn harbor and board a ferry to the Westman Islands. The short 45-minute boat ride will give you a new perspective of Iceland’s south coast. When the ferry docks on the main island, Heimaey, you might even spot a brave sheep grazing on the rocky cliffs surrounding you!
